Symphony

The permission form for the Symphony was sent home on Wednesday to all students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Please ensure the form and money is returned to school by October 6.  The school will be hosting a free concert by 4 brass Symphony players on October 14.  The grade 3 - 5 students will watch the concert from 1 - 1:35 and the kindergarten to grade 2 students will watch the assembly from 2:05 - 2:40.

Welcome Back

Music Clubs

There will be four optional music clubs offered this year during the lunch break from 11:45 - 12:25. 

The Grade 4/5 choir will practice on Day 1 starting on October 2nd.  The Grade 3 choir will practice on Day 4 starting on September 29.  The Grade 4 Orff Club will practice on Day 5 starting on September 30.  The Grade 5 Theatre Club will commence in January.  Please encourage your child to participate in these extra activities.

Recorders

A note will be going home soon for Grade 3 students purchasing a soprano recorder and for Grade 5 students purchasing / borrowing the alto recorder.

 Concert Changes

Due to the high numbers of students in the primary years, the winter concert will include only students in kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2.  The concert dates will be December 16th and 17th.  More information as to which class performs on which date as well as the times of the concerts will be announced soon.

The spring concert will include students in grades 3,4, and 5.  The grade 3 students will sing in the chorus.  The grade 4/5 students will have the opportunity to audition in February for a speaking/singing role. 

Divisional Children's Choir

A note went home today explaining the Divisional Children's Choir.  It is open for any Grade 4 students who want to sing and be part of an auditioned choir for Grade 5 students.  Students will need to sing either O Canada or She's Like a Swallow.  Please ensure you register for an audition time asap at www.sjsdchoirs.ca

Students in Grade 5 who are interested in the Divisional Junior Choir met today and received the information on songs, how to audition and what will be asked at the audition.  Please ensure you register for an audition time asap in order to get a spot. Congratulations on the Great Musical

Our presentation of American Pop Forever was a great hit.  Thank you to all of the volunteers, staff and students for their hard work.  Students learned all about the various styles of music, dance and clothing and we adults, reminisced about our favourite songs growing up!  Well done!
