La chorale 4/5

The grade 4/5 choir will be start practices on October 2nd each Day 1.  Students are encouraged to come out for this club which will sing at Remembrance Day and a senior's complex before the winter holidays.  The club will finish in December.  Permission forms will be given on the first practice.  Students will be encouraged to wear white shirts and black pants for our Remembrance Day Service when we will sing the song We Are One.

We are One
Let us sing, let us play
Let us dare to dream a brighter day.
We are one!

Here we are now standing hand in hand
Diff’rent folks from many diffr’ent lands.

Joining hearts together and looking for a way
To try to help the world hear what we say
We are one

From around the world the call is loud and strong
(The call is loud and strong)
A home of peace is where we all belong (We belong)

Where ever two are gathered a friendship has begun.
Knowing two together become one.
We are one.  We are one.  We are one.
Tell the world a new day has begun
Like the rising sun we are one.
The world’s a better place when we are one, we are one.

We’ll face the future standing hand in hand
(We’ll face it hand in hand)
Diff’rent folks from many diff’rent lands (diff’rent lands)
So raise your song together and let your voices ring.
One by one the world will start to sing.
We are one we are one, we are one
Tell the world a new day has begun
Likethe rising sun we are one.
The world’s a better place when we are one, we are

One!  Come on! Let’s hear it!  We are one!
Together in spirit.
We are one!

It’s time to take a stance.  It’s our only chance to make it better. One
Sing it together We are one! Now and forever.
The world’s a better place when we are one.

We are one.  We are one. Tell the world a new day has begun.
Like the rising sun.  We are one.
The world’s a better place when we are one.
We are one.  One  One!

When Christmas comes to town
La La La La La La, La La La La La, La La La La La

I’m wishing on a star and trying to believe
That even though it’s far, he’ll find me Christmas Eve
I guess that Santa’s busy ‘cause he’s never come around
I think of him when Christmas comes to town

The best time of the year, when everyone comes home
With all this Christmas cheer it’s hard to be alone
Putting up the Christmas tree with friends who come around
It’s so much fun when Christmas comes to town

Presents for the children wrapped in red and green
All the things I’ve heard about but never really seen
No one will be sleeping on the night of Christmas Eve
Hoping Santa’s on his way

When Santa’s sleigh bells ring, I listen all around
The herald angels sing, I never hear a sound
And all the dreams of children once lost will all be found
That’s all I want when Christmas comes to town
That’s all I want when Christmas comes to town

Petit Papa Noel

Quand il nous arrive le temps des fêtes tout l’monde a le coeur réjouit;

Le bonhomme a tué son gros gorette puis il s’est greyé de bon lait blanc;

Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go, laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Vive le vent, vive le vent
Vive le vent d’hiver
Qui s’en va sifflant soufflant
Dans les grands sapins verts

A day or two ago, I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank and then we got upsot!

Up on the housetop
Up on the housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones, Christmas joys

Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go?
Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick

First comes the stocking of little Nell
Oh, dear Santa fill it well
Give her a dolly that laughs and cries
One that will open and shut her eyes

Next comes the stocking of little Will
Oh, just see what a glorious fill
Here is a hammer and lots of tacks
Also a ball and a whip that cracks

Other songs for Golden West include:

Angels We have Heard on High
Angels we have on heard high
Sweetly singing ore the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Gloria in excelsis Deo   Gloria in excelsis Deo

Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord the newborn King

Gloria in excelsis Deo   Gloria in excelsis Deo

Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it you would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph play in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say
Rudolph with your nose so bright won't you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then all the reindeer loved him and they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer you'll go down in history!"

Deck the Halls
Deck the halls with boughs of holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our gay apparel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Toll the ancient Yuletide carol,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Frosty, the Snowman

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With the corn cup hat and button nose
And two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the snowman is the fairy tale they say
He was made of snow but the children know
How he came to life one day
There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance all around

Oh, frosty the snowman was as alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

Frosty the snowman knew the sun was hot that day
So he said "Let's run and have some fun before I melt away"
Down to the village with the bloom-stick in his hand
Running here and there all around that square
Saying "Catch me if you can"
He led them down the street of town right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment
When he heard him howling "Stop" boy!

Frosty the snowman had to hurry on his way
But he waved good-bye, saying "Please don't cry"
I'll be back again someday

Thumpdy, thump, thump
Thumpdy, thump, thump
Look at Frosty go

Thumpdy, thump, thump
Thumpdy, thump, thump
Over the hills of snow

Silent Night
Silent night! Holy night
All is calm all is bright
Round young virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Silent night! Holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah
Christ the Saviour is born!
Christ the Saviour is born!

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town
You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He's making a list
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town

We 3 Kings
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect Light.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas ; We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas and a happy new year.
We wish you a Merry Christmas ; We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas  and a Happy New Year.

This year the grade 4/5 choir will be practicing once a week during school time.  The students are learning Take These Wings and Un Enfant du Paix.  The link is Enfant du Paix so you can practice at home or with the piano accompaniment.

Words for Take These Wings:

I found a sparrow lying on the ground
Her life I knew would soon be at an end.
I knelt before her as she made a sound
And listened as she said, my friend
refrain
Take these wings and learn to fly to the highest mountain in the sky
Take these eyes and learn to see all the things so dear to me.
Take this song and learn to sing
Fill your voice with all the joys of spring
Take this heart and set it free, let it fly beyond the sea.

I found another sparrow on the sand
A tiny bird whose life had just began
I picked him up and held him in my hand
I smiled at him and said, “My son,
Take these wings and learn to fly to the highest mountain in the sky
Take these eyes and learn to see all the things so dear to me.
Take this song and learn to sing
Fill your voice with all the joys of spring
Take this heart and set it free, let it fly beyond the sea.
